Delivery through hungryboiler takes forever, but the food is always fantastic. Happy China has the best crab rangoon I've had, and the eggrolls are perfect. Definitely worth it.

The food comes out fast and fresh. That in itself is wonderful. The dishes are hit or miss though. The shrimp lo mein was too salty and didn't have enough vegetables. But the orange chicken was pretty good. This place uses disposable plates and utensils, so this isn't fancy date material exactly. But it's food. And college kids like food. Lol.

This is the only place I order Chinese take out from. They never disappoint! Always delivered quickly and is always hot and tastes great. Everyone always very friendly and great customer service. Ordered this afternoon and got a small wonton soup. If this was small-I'd love to see their large. Was a very generous portion and had plenty of whole wontons. Was delicious!!! I definitely recommend this place as far as this price point, and type of restaurant.

This is an awesome place to eat/take out Chinese food. I really like the consistency of the quality of their food. Every time I go there the food is always warm and delicious. The place is clean. The price is really reasonable.

As a student at purdue I have ordered from Happy China multiple times. I have tried many different menu items and what I've found out is that much of the food there is hit and miss. To save you trouble from finding out which ones aren't that great I'll post what I have tried here so far. Seasame Chicken: Not very good, it comes in large chunks of chicken and I have gotten weird bone/fat chunks inside the orange chicken so the quality isn't great. The sauce is not bad but can't make up for the chicken quality. Orange Chicken: Bad. This uses literally the same chicken that the sesame chicken uses which shouldn't be a shock, but the sauce has a very lemon/orange taste to it which would make sense but it doesn't go well with the chicken and is almost too much. This bad sauce combined with the bad chicken quality makes for a below par dish. Mongolian Beef: This one is actually pretty good. My only complaint is that most times they will put a giant ratio of green peppers and onions to the beef so you are eating about 70% onions/green peppers and 30% beef. Rice: Pretty good Lo Mein: Not too good, the lo mein is very dry and sticks together almost like rice does. You will find yourself having to unstick the noodles from each other with your fork/chopsticks.

My favorite here is the curry chicken with double curry (spicy and mouth watering) and steamed chicken with mixed vegetables with garlic sauce on the side (healthiest chinese food option in town!!). They are super fast with called in pick up orders. I'll call and drive over immediately after and 90% of the time they'll have it ready. People who work there are very responsive and will keep any wait time to a minimal.

Good service, great food, & price. General Tsoa chicken, chicken lo mein is always fresh & warm when I pick up. They do a great job on time & right

I have ordered from this restaurant several times on Hungry Boiler. My food has always arrived between 30 minutes to an hour later, with nothing spilled, smashed, etc. I like the General Tso's chicken the best. I have tried the orange chicken and sesame chicken, but they've been too sweet for me. The crab rangoon (while lacking on the crab end) is really tasty. They usually have pretty good deals, too, and the portions are quite large, even when you order a combo or lunch special. Whenever I'm craving Chinese, I always order from here.

This place is always our go to place for take out Chinese food. In comparison to the other take out Chinese establishments in Lafayette this place is the best one yet, but I'm not so sure if that says much. The food here is good, along with the specials and variety, but sometimes the sanitary and cleanliness factors always make me hesitate eating here haha. The service here is so-so it really just depends on who is working. Overall, this is an okay place to eat, but definitely carry out and cross your fingers it's a good day at Happy China!

I ordered delivery from Happy China for the first time. Overall, I was impressed! Delivery Time: 15 minutes from call to arrival (shockingly fast) Portions: Massive Price: inexpensive ($7.50 for entree+ spring roll+ fried rice) Taste: average I was pleased with my meal! I can't stress enough how huge the quantities were. Also, the delivery was lightning fast! Update: 2/8/15 I've ordered from Happy China a few more times. There are two positive qualities that I can't stress enough. #1: the portion size is overwhelmingly massive. #2: the delivery is very fast(maybe because I live right down the street.) It's important to recognize Happy China for what it is: Chinese fast-food. It is not a sit-down, fine-dining restaurant. It's a cheap in-and-out place. With that being said, the expectations for such an establishment must be held to a fast-food type of standard. The sauces probably come out of a can. Each individual order probably wasn't made by hand with the care and consideration that you would expect from a fine-dining establishment. It may lack some of the unique spices and flavors that could be expected at much more expensive restaurants. It's simple Chinese-American fast food. By that standard, Happy China knocks it out of the park. Under the category of $5-$10 Chinese-American takeout restaurants, Happy China is simply as good as you can get. 5-stars. Well done.

This was by far the dirtiest, worst tasting, most disgusting Chinese food I've ever eaten. I had lo mein. I got about 5lbs of lo mein that tasted like bleach. I'm guessing the review starts are so high because drunk college kids like the hours and delivery option but this was truly horrendous. I was sick for three days after eating there.

I had ordered my food online, and the processing went through very fast. I walked into the restaurant, and after smelling the fragrance they had misted (I want to call it old playdoh), the cashier said it would be a couple minutes. After a couple minutes, I picked up my order, went home, and ate it. 5 stars, was able to eat the food.

This is definitely the best Chinese in the West Lafayette/Lafayette area. Portions aren't skimpy, orders are fulfilled quickly, and, as noted, the taste is good. All the typical, basic American Chinese things on are the menu. I always order online (through Hungry Boiler), though, because when I called in an order once, they screwed it up. I definitely wouldn't recommend eating in, as the place isn't very nice. I always do carry-out.

As far as Chinese food places go, this is one of the more decent ones in West Lafayette. Their price is a-ok, the portion is larger than most chinese places around, but the food itself is just... okay. Not bad, not mind blowingly delicious or anything. The staff is more often good than not. Some of them will remember you if you go there often. The delivery is pretty good. Within their guarantee of 30-45 minutes for most part.

We just tried takeout and thought it was pretty good overall. Great service and the place was very busy. The steamed dumplings were delicious and the Pork Ho Fun was also a good choice. My Chicken Chop Suey wasn't bad - not very flavorful, but the chicken was quite tender. The portions are generous and the prices are low. I am sure we will be back.

Had delivery from here last week. It was prompt, and the portions were good size. The food was a little bland, and the hot and sour soup was different from any I've ever had. Wasn't crazy about it. The egg rolls were decent and not to greasy. Overall the good outweighs the bad. I'd give it another shot.

Got the General Tso's Chicken combo. Got delivery in 15 mins on a Friday night. The food was pretty great. They made it extra spicy the way I asked them to. Not too oily, which was nice. You definitely get enough for 2 meals at least. I eat a lot and even I have enough for 2. I'll be definitely trying them again.

Oh, Happy China. I think this place has the best wonton soup in the State of Indiana. The wontons are always perfect and the broth is flavored extremely well. As soon as the woman sees my husband walk in she yells 'General Tso!' So, you know it's our go-to Chinese takeout spot.

The General Tso's Chicken, which is suggested by almost every comment here, is too sweet to me! Anyway, the restaurant is clean and nice. I'll give it a middle 3.

I was very pleased with Happy China. Their sweet and sour chicken was amazing and the quantity was ungodly. I could barely finish the entire meal. Their General Tso's chicken is also delicious. Happy China frequently has great deals through Hungry Boiler, which makes the experience even better. This restaurant has cheap lunch specials and the atmosphere has no problems. Their is enough seating within the business and can accommodate a reasonable amount of people if staying in to eat your meal. If you are looking for a slightly higher quality of fast Chinese food, then I would recommend Happy China if in the landing area.

One of the best Chinese takeout places that you will find around Purdue. The place is clean, the staff is extremely friendly, and the food tastes great every time. I have never used their delivery service, so I won't comment on it, but otherwise I love eating Chinese from this place. Also, the portions are great for the price. Usually I can get 2 or 3 meals out of one of their combo deals. I love their General Tso's combo. Five stars as far as Chinese takeout goes.

Their General Tso's was delicious! I ordered delivery, which only took half an hour out to college station. Cheap price, great food, large portion. I'm very particular about chinese-american dishes, but this was well done. I'm done with Rice Cafe. They take too long to deliver and are over priced (they do make good food though).

I have been in this place a lot of times. Moo Go Gae Pan is my favorite. Here is my bad experience. The Menu Item: Pork Fried Rice is no different than free fried rice you can get in other china take-out places; the rice is hard and very yellowish with very micro pieces of dried pork. I occasionally had Beef and Broccoli. That is good to me. Overall, this place is an average place in term of food quality. In most of the time I visit to this place, their customer service is not very welcoming.

Happy China is by far the cleanest American Chinese restaurant in town. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. Delivery service sometimes takes longer than you would think, but when the food finally arrives, you'll forget the wait while you devour the excellent food. The lunch menu is ridiculously inexpensive for the amount of food.

Happy China is just like every other Americanized Chinese restaurant. I like this place best because it is clean and the food is consistently good. I think this place is the best for lunch. You can get a main dish, appetizer and plain or fried rice for about 5 dollars. That is enough to feed two people! One of the most affordable lunches you can get.

Twice we ordered Happy China delivery and both times it was excellent. Quick delivery, not greasy, good quality vegetables, meat, and seafood, excellent. The third time we ordered it was a completely different. We waited well over an hour for delivery. The food tasted good until half-way through our Chow Mei Fun we found a HUGE black bug -- some creepy big ant-like thing right in the middle of our noodles. This is completely unacceptable and, despite how great the food was on other occasions, we will NEVER be ordering from here again. Not so happy China...

Took forever. Well over an hour after ordering we are still sitting here waiting. Last time we ordered, it was so-so in quality. We will be looking for another option to get our Chinese after church fix.

All in all, Happy China is a decent choice for typical (Americanized) Chinese food. Last night I wasn't feeling so well, so I decided to look for something quick to pick up for dinner. Having spent my early years in San Francisco, Chinese takeout has always been a fixture in my monthly dinner rotation, and is something of a comfort food to me- I always want hot & sour soup when I'm sick. I found the Happy China menu on hungryboiler.com and put in my order online. At the time, I actually thought I had ordered it for delivery, so in the "special instructions" box I put "Back Door". I had actually ordered takeout, and so Happy China called, texted, and left me a message to clarify. I appreciate that they took that effort rather than just letting me wonder why my food was never delivered. So I ended up driving there to pick it up. They were (understandably) a little delayed by the delivery/takeout confusion, and so I waited 5-10 minutes for my order. I wouldn't recommend eating in, as the dining room is pretty shabby and less than pristine in terms of cleanliness (although I wouldn't worry about food safety). On to the food: Hot & Sour Soup: Big portion with plenty of the typical vegetables, and a nice helping of mushrooms, which were fresh and well cooked. However, the flavoring was off for me, rather than the tangy sweet/sour that I look for in this soup, the only note I tasted was spicy. Steamed Dumplings: Came with 8 dumplings. These were not my favorite- the dough was very heavy and they didn't give us any dipping sauce! It's hard to mess up dumplings though, they were still very satisfying and I finished two. General Tso's Chicken- Generous portion size, well cooked (crispy) and a good bit of brocoli in there to help you deny the fact that what you are eating is fried chicken drenched in sugary sauce. Tasty. Mixed Vegetables with Tofu: Vegetables were fresh and well cooked, plenty of tofu chunks. Sauce was decent if not memorable. Overall, food was satisfying, portions were very large, and prices were great (all this for less than thirty dollars and my husband and I can easily get three meals out of it). I would go back to Happy China for takeout for ease of ordering and location and fresh, decent food (skip the soup next time!).

Ordered chicken ho fun and thought it tasted very bland. Portion was a good amount and order was ready for pick-up quickly, but the taste was just not good enough for me to go back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly.
